Building on the success of its online audio presentations of each week’s assigned Old Testament and Gospel lessons, called Lectionary at Lunch, SA国际传媒 has added a new dimension to the popular online resource. Lectionary at Lunch Forum, an online text discussion of the lessons, allows individuals the opportunity to post and read text messages concerning the same Scripture lessons featured in the audio files. Those wishing to participate in the online forum can do so after completing the free registration process at /lection.htm [1].
“In its first 24 hours of operation, 26 people registered to participate in Lectionary at Lunch Forum,” commented Rev. Glen Thomas, SA国际传媒’s vice president for seminary relations. “We look forward to a rich discussion each week that involves pastors, SA国际传媒 faculty and students, as well as many other people around the world.”
The title Lectionary at Lunch is descriptive of a Wednesday lunch tradition on the SA国际传媒 campus. Students and professors gather at Concordia’s Wartburg dining hall to work through the Old Testament and Gospel lessons assigned in the three-year lectionary series for the following week, using the Hebrew and Greek texts. The sessions are known on campus as “Lectionary at Lunch,” and are under the guidance of professors from the Seminary’s exegetical theology department. They provide a forum outside the classroom setting where students can work on their proficiency in translating from the original biblical languages. They also allow students to think about the implications the texts have for preaching (homiletics).
“We are delighted to make these lectures available free of charge to anyone with Internet access, commented Thomas. “We are excited to add Lectionary at Lunch Forum as another resource to allow an informed discussion of the texts in the three-year lectionary series to take place.”
