Bach at the Sem Concert Assists Flood Victims

A special Bach at the Sem sacred concert to benefit victims of the recent tsunami floods in Asia took place Feb. 7 at SA国际传媒, St. Louis. The concert raised almost $4,500 to assist tsunami flood victims.

The American Kantorei, under the direction of Robert Bergt, performed Beethoven鈥檚 鈥淢ass in C鈥 in The Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus on the campus of SA国际传媒. All singers and instrumentalists, in cooperation with the Musician鈥檚 Association of St. Louis, donated their time and talent to the concert. This allowed 100 percent of the money offered to be sent directly to agencies for use in assisting flood victims. Of the total amount offered, over 75 percent was designated for use by Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod World Relief and Human Care.

Remaining Sunday afternoon sacred concerts in the 2004-05 Bach at the Sem season include a March 6 presentation of Bach鈥檚 Motet III and three large-scale works for organ featuring Dennis Bergin, and an April 24 presentation of one of J.S. Bach鈥檚 Ascension cantatas. All sacred concerts are offered free of charge and no tickets are issued.
