SA国际传媒鈥檚 [1] concert series, featuring the American Kantorei, will perform its final concert of the season at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 17, in the Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus on the Seminary campus.
This concert will feature the Missa Brevis in G minor (the Kyrie and Gloria), which includes movements ingeniously re-worked by J.S. Bach from cantatas performed by the Kantorei earlier this season.
The program also features two instrumental works by Bach and his son Wilhelm Friedemann, as well as the elder Bach’s Easter Oratorio, “Kommt eiletund laufet” (鈥渃ome, hurry and run鈥), BWV 249. In the manner of an oratorio, the work depicts characters in the biblical account, notably the reactions of Jesus’ disciples and the “two Marys” as they encounter the empty tomb on Easter morning. The work expresses the joy of the Easter season.
Led by Music Director Dr. Maurice Boyer, the concerts are free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken.
