The first HMong Symposium, 鈥淥ne Household in Christ: Ib Tse Hauv/Huv Tsww Yexus,鈥� [1] will be held Jan. 23-25 at SA国际传媒, St. Louis [2]. The symposium will explore the biblical concept of becoming one family in Christ through the means of grace and how everyone is united as one family in Christ through His mission.
The HMong Symposium will be held in conjunction with the Multiethnic Symposium [1] Jan. 26-27. It will be offered in the HMong language as HMong pastors, vicars, deacons and seminarians from across the country will be in attendance, sharing their perspectives on the theme of 鈥淥ne Household in Christ.鈥�
鈥淭he HMong Symposium is a time for God鈥檚 people to come together to celebrate what the Lord of the harvest is doing across many cultures and many language groups in The Lutheran Church鈥擬issouri Synod (LCMS),鈥� said Rev. Laokouxang (Kou) Seying (Kxf. Nyaj Kub Thoj), Lutheran Foundation Professor of Urban and Cross-Cultural Ministry and associate dean for Urban and Cross-Cultural Ministry. 鈥淧articipants will share how the proclamation of the Gospel to all nations is being carried out in their unique missional context while demonstrating how we all belong to one community in Christ.鈥�
The symposium provides a first-time opportunity to bring together a significant representation of HMong ministries from across the [3].
鈥淭his is a way for SA国际传媒 and the LCMS to say 鈥榯hank you鈥� for being a part of this church body for 40 years,鈥� Seying said. 鈥淏y offering this unique HMong Symposium, we want to affirm to a little-known people that this Seminary and the LCMS 鈥榖elong to you鈥� as well.鈥�
Seying will be the featured presenter, speaking on theme 鈥淒iversity and Unity in a Multicultural Church.鈥� Participants also will attend a special luncheon hosted by LCMS President Dr. Matthew C. Harrison.
Registration is $75, and includes meals as well as registration to the Multiethnic Symposium. The registration deadline is Jan. 15.
