High school men who believe God might be directing them toward pastoral ministry will get a 鈥淭aste of the Sem鈥 at an annual weekend event Jan. 16-18 aimed at immersing them into life at [1].
Taste of the Sem [2] is an opportunity for high school men to spend a weekend at SA国际传媒. They will study theology, pray, worship, and meet and talk with Seminary students and professors.
Participants gain a sense of Seminary life and a better understanding of what Lutherans confess when they say, 鈥淔aith alone, Scripture alone, Grace alone.鈥 They will explore the significant historical impact of the Lutheran Reformation on the Church and world, and study the Scriptures with Seminary professors to find out why Lutherans believe in justification by grace through faith. Every participant also will spend time with one Seminary student at his field education congregation Sunday morning and attend classes with him Monday morning.
Throughout the weekend there will be a variety of social activities as well, including volleyball, basketball, foosball and Ping-Pong tournaments for the participants to get to know each other and seminarians.
Taste of the Sem is one of the Seminary鈥檚 annual admissions events [3] that gives participants valuable information about formation for pastoral and diaconal ministry. There is something for everyone including events for prospective students who are in high school, college or are considering ministry as a second career, as well as events for prospective Seminary families.
Registration is free. Housing and meals during the event will be provided at no cost to participants.
