In a special post-Easter concert, the Pro Musica Sacra choir of SA国际传媒, St. Louis [1] will join with choirs from St. Louis-area congregations for a free performance at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 3, in the Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus.
Pro Musica Sacra is a community choir made up of Seminary students, their wives and musical members of the St. Louis community. They sing for various concerts and events throughout the year. The choir is under the direction of the Seminary鈥檚 Director of Musical Arts James Marriott.
The guest choirs from the St. Louis Lutheran community that will be joining in the performance include Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church, Florissant, Mo., and Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Charles, Mo., among others. They will be featuring selections that were performed during Easter services in their local congregations.
The concert also will include musical selections highlighting the church year, such as Mendelssohn鈥檚 There Shall A Star Come Out of Jacob; Rutter鈥檚 Nativity Carol; Tallis鈥 If Ye Love Me; Christiansen鈥檚 Lamb of God, Most Holy; and an original setting of the hymn We Praise You and Acknowledge You by Marriott.
鈥淭his is a great way to feature and celebrate the hard work our local church choirs do to proclaim the Gospel through music on Easter Sunday,鈥 Marriott said. 鈥淥ften, they only get one or two opportunities to sing their Easter music. Here in this concert, we have the opportunity to encourage and uplift one another and the greater St. Louis community through the musical proclamation of the Easter story.鈥
