Six [1] students recently celebrated vicarage assignments and will serve congregations and ministries of [2].

Five Ethnic Immigrant Institute of Theology (EIIT) students received vicarage assignments Friday, Oct. 21, in the Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus:
Albino Kong, Anchorage Lutheran Church, Anchorage, Alaska, LCMS Northwest District
Richard McCafferty, Anchorage Lutheran Church, Anchorage, Alaska, LCMS Northwest District
Robert Sawah, Peace Lutheran Church, Washington, D.C., LCMS Southeastern District
Marlon Yearwood, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Springfield, Va., LCMS Southeastern District
Gem Gabriel, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, New London, Conn., LCMS New England District

Also announced Friday was Cross-Cultural Ministry (CMC) student Daniel Morin鈥檚 Sept. 2 vicarage assignment to Our Savior Lutheran Church, Palm Springs, Calif., in the LCMS Pacific Southwest District.

鈥淭he students assigned EIIT and CMC vicarages reflect an emphasis of SA国际传媒 to raise up men to serve the 42 million immigrants in the United States for the pastoral office,鈥 said Dr. Glenn Nielsen, director of vicarage and deaconess internships. 鈥淲ith these assignments the following people groups will be served: Sudanese, Native American, Liberian, Ethiopian and Asian Indian. When Jesus says in Acts 1:8 that the church will give witness to Him in Jerusalem, all Judea, Samaria and to the end of the earth, these men in their vicarages testify to our Lord fulfilling that promise through SA国际传媒.鈥

The EIIT is a specialized program leading to ordination for men engaged in pastoral ministry contexts in ethnic immigrant and urban cultures in North America. EIIT also offers a program for women to become deaconesses.

The CMC was established by Concordia University, Irvine, Calif., in conjunction with SA国际传媒 and the LCMS Pacific Southwest District to provide directed preparation for ordained ministry to men who will serve in the socio-cultural contexts of specific ethnic populations and multicultural communities.

The Seminary celebrates assignment services throughout the year for students enrolled in special programs such as EIIT and the CMC. The Seminary鈥檚 primary Call Day is held in April when students receive their first calls to ministry, vicarage placements and deaconess internship positions. Call Day is set for April 26, 2017.
