Registration is now open for the 29th Annual Theological Symposium, 鈥淭he Cross Alone is Our Theology,鈥 [1] set for Sept. 18-19 on the campus of [2].
Based on the Martin Luther quote, 鈥淭he cross of Christ is the only way of instruction in the Word of God, and the only true theology,鈥 the symposium will address what it really means to have cross-centered theology, cross-centered pastoral care and a cross-centered life. One thing is certain: the cross and resurrection change everything for believers!
鈥淎 year after Martin Luther posted his 95 theses in 1517 he penned a series of theses in which he echoed the Apostle Paul鈥檚 words that we preach 鈥榥othing but Christ crucified.鈥 Luther contended that the cross is the central lens by which we view our life and witness within the world,鈥 said [3], the Seminary鈥檚 Eugene E. and Nell S. Fincke Graduate Professor of Theology and dean of Theological Research and Publication.鈥淚n other words, Christians are theologians of the cross. And so this year鈥檚 Theological Symposium asks the question, 鈥榃hat does it really mean to have a cross-centered theology, cross-centered pastoral care or a cross-centered life?鈥 especially when the cross is seen in light of Christ鈥檚 resurrection.鈥
Please join us for cross-centered encouragement and theology. Highlights of the symposium include plenaries, an art exhibition and Prof 鈥檔 Stein.聽Participants are invited to arrive on campus a day early for a free golf outing sponsored by LCMS Foundation [4], Monday, Sept 17.
Space is limited for this free event.
The symposium will include the Fourth Annual Dr. Jack Dean Kingsbury Lecture 鈥淭he Death of Jesus and its Aftermath in the Gospel According to Mark鈥 by Dr. James W. Voelz at 7 p.m. Sept. 18 in Werner Auditorium.
Registration for the symposium is $130 per person through Aug. 17, after which time the fee increases to $140. Registration closes Sept. 7. A limited amount of on-campus housing is available. Visit the [5] for more details.
