The new downloadable series,聽鈥�O Love, How Deep, How Broad, How High [1]鈥� is designed to aid pastors in their preparations for Lenten midweek services. Dr. Thomas Egger [2], SA国际传媒鈥檚 Gustav and Sophie Butterbach Professor of Exegetical Theology and chairman of the Department of Exegetical Theology, authored the materials.
鈥淒r. Egger鈥檚 series draws not only from his expertise with the Scriptures, but also from the poetry of the title hymn and others to give voice to the boundless love of God,鈥� said Dr. Travis Scholl, managing editor of Seminary Publications.
The primary goal of the series is for hearers to more fully comprehend and rejoice in 鈥渢he breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge鈥� (Eph. 3:18-19 ESV). Also, the series aims to help hearers come to associate the many dimensions of God鈥檚 great love and mercy with the suffering and death of Christ, thereby enriching their Lenten meditation and ongoing understanding of the cross, and move hearers to be inspired by God鈥檚 enormous love to live in love and mercy toward others.
While geared for Lenten midweek services, the series also can be used for Sunday worship during Lent. The series includes full sermons for Ash Wednesday, the weeks of Lent, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter, as well as worship helps, Bible readings and hymn suggestions.
