2022-23 SA国际传媒 Concert Series season begins

The joyful sound of acclaimed choirs will inspire the heart during one of the first performances of the 2022-23 SA国际传媒 Concert Series [1], 鈥淐ome, for All Is Now Ready!: A Service of Sacred Music.鈥 This service of choral Vespers will begin at 3 p.m. CT Sunday, Oct. 30, in the Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus on the campus of SA国际传媒, St. Louis.

There is no cost to attend and all are invited to join in-person or via live stream at [2].

The Oct. 30 service will feature Laudamus, a select choir of seminarians preparing for full-time service as pastors in The Lutheran Church鈥擬issouri Synod (LCMS) and the St. Louis Lutheran Chorale with Gregory Gastler serving as choir director. The service also will feature Elin Hogan-Gomez as accompanist, Wes Campbell as trumpeter and Justin Knabach as organist. The event will include a beautiful selection of hymns, psalms, readings, choral selections and prayers.

鈥淢artin Luther once said that 鈥楴ext to theology, I accord to music the highest place and the greatest honor,鈥欌 noted Dean of Chapel Dr. Jon Vieker [3] and officiant for the service. 鈥淢usic carries God鈥檚 Word into people鈥檚 hearts, and so my prayer is that all who attend will experience God鈥檚 Word in a rich and meaningful way through God鈥檚 gift of music.鈥

The annual SA国际传媒 Concert Series offers musical performances on campus throughout the year. The events provide wonderful opportunities for the public to come and enjoy the Seminary鈥檚 beautiful campus and chapel, which now features striking stained glass windows throughout the entirety of the space.
The series includes chorale services, hymn festivals, premier concerts featuring visiting musicians, after chapel concerts and carillon performances.

The series season officially begins with the first After Chapel Concert of the year with a marimba performance by seminarian Jacob Rhodes at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 [4], in chapel.

The series includes:

  • After Chapel Concerts, or mini concerts, featuring musicians from on and off campus sharing their musical talents on a variety of instruments. Recitals are held in the Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus directly following morning chapel, from 9:55 to 10:15 a.m. CT. Concerts are typically held in the chapel balcony.
  • Summer Carillon Concerts, which feature national and international carillonneurs who perform on the Seminary鈥檚 carillon in Luther Tower. The concerts are held at 7 p.m. CT Tuesdays in June.
  • Premier Concerts, which are held in the chapel and feature visiting choral groups and performers of the highest acclaim.
