Repentance is focus of 2023 Pre-Lenten Workshop

How do you live a life of repentance? This question will serve as the main theme of the 2023 Pre-Lenten Workshop for pastors, 鈥淗onest Repentance,鈥 set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, on the campus of聽SA国际传媒, St. Louis.

Workshop presenter Dr. David Maxwell [1], the Seminary鈥檚 Louis A. Fincke and Anna B. Shine Professor of Systematic Theology, will draw from Scripture readings traditionally read at the Easter Vigil to explore what repentance is 鈥 and what a life of repentance looks like.

鈥淲e talk about repentance a lot, especially during Lent, but sometimes we can be rather vague about what a life of repentance looks like. We leave people to infer that repentance means getting rid of parts of our humanity,鈥 said Maxwell. 鈥淭his workshop explores the exegetical and doctrinal background of the sermon series, seeking to show how repentance and faith mean being more human, not less.鈥

The annual Pre-Lenten Workshop is designed to help pastors develop their worship resources for Lent. Participants will receive six sermons designed for the mid-week Lenten services before Holy Week.

The Pre-Lenten Workshop will be held in the Presidents Room on the Seminary鈥檚 campus, 801 Seminary Place, St. Louis, MO 63105. Registration is $50 and includes lunch. The deadline for registration [2] is Jan. 6.
