Anticipation is building for聽Call Day [1]聽April 26 when concluding聽SA国际传媒, St. Louis聽students will receive their first pastoral or diaconal ministry placements, and second-year students will receive their vicarage or internship assignments in the Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus. All calls and assignments for service are to churches or ministries within The Lutheran Church鈥擬issouri Synod (LCMS).
Students who will serve a year as vicars or deaconess interns will receive their assignments at a worship service starting at 3 p.m. (CDT). Rev. Wally Arp, senior pastor of St. Luke鈥檚 Lutheran Church in Oviedo, Fla., will preach.
At 7 p.m. (CDT), candidates for the pastoral and diaconal ministry will receive their first calls to serve as pastors, deaconesses, chaplains and missionaries in the LCMS. Rev. Peter Lange, first vice president of the LCMS, will preach.
鈥淲alk up to any candidate who is expecting a call and ask, 鈥楬ow long until Call Day?鈥� and most likely, you will hear how many days, hours and even minutes until the service begins. The countdown is in full swing,鈥� said聽Dr. Glenn Nielsen [2], director of Placement and director of Vicarage and Deaconess Internships. 鈥淭he students鈥� Seminary formation is coming to that pivotal moment when I will read their names and future vicarage or internship assignments or their first calls. You can feel the excitement growing!鈥�
