They were widely read and cited by Lutherans from the time of Luther himself to C. F. W. Walther and beyond. This workshop offers an overview of this history and makes a case for a renewed engagement with the Apocrypha in Lutheran congregations today. The topics covered in this workshop include the origins and content of the Apocrypha\, early Christian views on the status of these books and their usage among Lutherans. \n\n\n\n\nDr. John Genter\nAssociate Professor of Exegetical Theology\nDr. John Genter joined the Concordia University\, Nebraska (CUNE)\, Seward\, Neb.\, department of theology\, philosophy and biblical languages in 2021.
