Enthusiastic Alumni Attend Seminary Class Reunions
An enthusiastic group of approximately 250 alumni, spouses, widows and guests attended the SA国际传媒 Alumni Reunions, held May 31-June 3 on the Seminary campus. This year鈥檚 reunions included graduating classes from years ending in a 鈥0鈥 or a 鈥5.鈥
The theme for the reunions was 鈥淐hurch and World鈥ast, Present and Future.鈥 Presenters included Dr. Paul Maier (Class of 1955), Russell H. Seibert Professor of Ancient History at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Mich., and fourth vice president of The Lutheran Church鈥擬issouri Synod, who spoke on 鈥淭he Influence of Christianity on Society鈥; and Dr. Richard Warneck (Class of 1960), professor and chairman of the department of practical theology at SA国际传媒, who presented 鈥淐hurch and Culture, 21st Century.鈥 Dr. Dale Meyer, president of SA国际传媒, moderated a panel discussion and addressed the alumni regarding current events and future plans at the Seminary.
A vespers worship service was held June 2 with Dr. Meyer serving as preacher. The offering at the service was dedicated to the SA国际传媒 John E. Meyer Memorial Alumni Book Endowment Fund, which assists SA国际传媒 students with the purchase of textbooks and other theological resources.
Activities for women included a June 1 breakfast hosted by Diane Meyer and a June 3 brunch hosted by the SA国际传媒 Guild.
Reunion activities culminated with a June 2 banquet held in the Seminary Expansion. At the banquet, Rev. Gerhardt Gerike (Class of 1935) was honored with the Erwin T. Koch Award, an award given to the oldest reunion attendee.
Class reunions tentatively planned for May 30-June 2, 2006, will include classes whose graduating years end in a 鈥1鈥 or a 鈥6.鈥
