Vocatio Held At SA国际传媒

A total of 43 youth attended Vocatio at SA国际传媒, St. Louis from June 19-24, 2010. They participated in Bible studies, worship, prayer, and discussion, and visited various ministry sites in the St. Louis area to hear presentations by people currently serving in church vocations.

鈥淭he part of Vocatio I liked best was seeing old friends while making new ones and learning new things that I can apply back home,鈥 one participant commented.

Vocatio, the Latin form of 鈥渧ocation,鈥 employed a unique approach to teach the participants about vocation. Ephesians 2:10, 鈥淔or we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them,鈥 was the focus verse of the event. The youth studied this verse and its implications for their vocations. Seminary professors led Bible studies to present and discuss the details of the verse according to the four departments of theology: exegetical, systematic, historical, and practical. This new focus encouraged the youth to think about their vocations according to God鈥檚 word and the gifts He has given to them. The Seminary professors guided them in looking at not only future church-work careers, but also their vocations now.

During Vocatio, admission representatives from eight Concordia University system schools and one from Valparaiso University participated in a college fair. Aside from each representative being available to answer questions at their booth, each one had a few minutes to introduce his or her school and its strengths. This opportunity allowed the Vocatio guests to have a better understanding of what each school has to offer.

The 2011 Vocatio will take place June 18-23. For more information on Vocatio, contact the admissions office at 800-822-9545 or [email protected].
