SA国际传媒 Announces Summer Lay Bible Institute
SA国际传媒, St. Louis, will host its summer 2013 Lay Bible Institute from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10 in Sieck Hall 202 on the Seminary campus. 鈥淟uther as Pastoral Theologian鈥� will be presented by Dr. Erik Herrmann, associate professor of historical theology at SA国际传媒.
Martin Luther was a complex figure 鈥� a professor, a theologian, a monk, a polemicist, a reformer. But he was also a pastor. In fact, for Luther being a pastor was his most important and comprehensive role. What if one looked at Luther and the entire Lutheran Reformation as a rediscovery and revitalization of pastoral care? In this course, we will look at Martin Luther鈥檚 life and theology afresh from the perspective of his work as pastor. We will read together some of his letters, sermons, and other catechetical and devotional writings that touch on such pastoral themes as prayer, consolation, dying, doubt, music, art, and humor.
