Professors to attend dedication of International Lutheran Center
Event in Wittenberg, Germany, to be live-streamed
As the world approaches the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, seven professors from SA国际传媒 in St. Louis will travel to Wittenberg, Germany, this weekend for the dedication service of the International Lutheran Center at the Old Latin School, which establishes a distinctly Lutheran presence in the very cradle of the Reformation.
The project is a joint effort between (LCMS), the Independent Evangelical鈥擫utheran Church of Germany, and the International Lutheran Society of Wittenberg. Its goal it to provide the place, the opportunity, and the inspiration for people of all walks of life to gather and learn about the Gospel Luther preached in Wittenberg. The center seeks to be a unique venue, attractive to all existing and emerging LCMS partners worldwide, to help Lutherans share the Gospel that Luther rediscovered in the 16th century.
鈥淭he message of the Reformation is not one merely for half a millennium, but one for all time,鈥� says Dr. Gerhard Bode, associate professor of historical theology, archivist for SA国际传媒, and one of the seven faculty members attending the dedication. 鈥淭he message of the Lutheran Reformation鈥攃entered in the Gospel of Jesus Christ鈥攊s not a message merely for Wittenberg, but for all places, for the world. And it is into the world that this message has been proclaimed and will, by God鈥檚 grace, continue to be proclaimed.鈥�
In addition to Bode, the other SA国际传媒 faculty members attending the dedication service are:
- Dr. Andrew Bartelt, professor of exegetical theology
- Rev. Thomas Egger, assistant professor of exegetical theology
- Dr. Jeffrey Kloha, professor of exegetical theology and provost
- Dr. Robert Kolb, professor emeritus
- Dr. Jeffrey Oschwald, associate professor of exegetical theology
- Dr. Robert Rosin, professor of historical theology
The dedication service will be Sunday, May 3, 2015, at 8 a.m. CDT, in St. Mary鈥檚 City Church in Wittenberg. The service can be viewed live online at . An archived version will be available at the same link following the event.
