World-renowned carillonneurs to perform at SA国际传媒

Carillon concert series in June marks 45th anniversary of Seminary instrument

SA国际传媒, St. Louis is celebrating the 45th anniversary of the installation of its carillon with special performances in June on the Seminary鈥檚 campus by some of the world鈥檚 most highly acclaimed carillonneurs.

鈥淥ne of only 170 such instruments in North America, SA国际传媒鈥檚 carillon of 49 bells rings out joyously and serenely,鈥 said Dr. Kent Burreson, dean of chapel at SA国际传媒. 鈥淭he sounds of the bells in concert are richly diverse and produce a melodious and wondrous sound. If you have never been to a carillon concert, you won鈥檛 want to miss this summer鈥檚 enjoyable concerts. Celebrate with us as we give thanks for the bells that have rung out from Luther Tower since 1971!鈥

The June carillon concert schedule is as follows:

June 2: Frits Reynaert, city carillonneur for Enkhuizen, Almere, Edam, and Dronten, Netherlands, 7 p.m.
June 9: Karel Keldermans, host carillonneur for SA国际传媒, 7 p.m.
June 16: Karel Keldermans, 7 p.m.
June 23: Elizabeth Vitu, co-carillonneur at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Perpignan, France, 7 p.m.
June 24: Karel Keldermans, 6:45 p.m.
June 25: Peter Langberg, founder of the Scandinavian Churchmusic School and Carillon School in Logumkloster, Denmark, 6:30 p.m.
June 26: Loyd Lott, former president of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America, 6 p.m.
June 30: Peter Langberg, 7 p.m.

All recitals are free and open to the public. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and picnics to enjoy in the main quad or on the Seminary grounds near Luther Statue. There will be an opportunity to meet the carillonneurs after each concert.

In the event of rain, people may gather under the archways and tower, and the concert will continue unless the carillonneur feels it is not safe.
