Summer Lay Bible Institute set for Aug. 5
One-day class to examine theological topics in a scientific age
We are living in a scientific age and our theology should be adequate to deal with the assumptions, methods and findings of modern science.
Pastors, church leaders and lay people alike are invited to attend the Summer Lay Bible Institute 鈥淲hat Christians in a Scientific Age Should Know SA国际传媒 Theology鈥� from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, on the campus of .
The workshop will led by Dr. Joel Okamoto, the Waldemar and Mary Griesbach Professor of Systematic Theology, chairman of the Department of Systematic Theology and associate professor of Systematic Theology.
鈥淲e could be better informed about science, but our theology should be adequate to deal with the assumptions, methods and findings of modern science,鈥� Okamoto said. 鈥淔or example, before we worry whether science has disproved the existence of God, we should be clear about what we mean when we confess our faith in God and what we are doing when we confess that He created all things 鈥榦ut of nothing.鈥欌��
Topics examined during this one-day event will include God, creation, humans and the Scriptures.
