#GivingTuesday campaign raises $21K

Funds raised will be used where needed most

Generous donors set a record, giving $21,010 to SA国际传媒, St. Louis on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 28. The amount topped the institution鈥檚 one-day $20,000 goal, and surpassed Giving Tuesday gifts given in 2016 by 162 percent.

All funds raised on Giving Tuesday will be used where needed most in the Seminary鈥檚 ongoing mission to prepare the church鈥檚 future pastors, deaconesses, missionaries and teachers.

鈥淭he generosity of our friends and supporters is amazing and humbling,鈥� said Vicki Biggs, senior vice president of Seminary Advancement. 鈥淲e give thanks for each and every donor, and we celebrate with joy their partnership in the Seminary鈥檚 mission for the sake of the Gospel!鈥�

The Seminary鈥檚 Giving Tuesday campaign centered on the themes of 鈥淧repare a Pastor鈥� and 鈥淧repare a Deaconess.鈥� Donors were encouraged to use #PrepareAPastor, #PrepareADeaconess and #GivingTuesday on social media to help spread the word about the campaign.

An on-campus pop-up social media station served as a hub for the Seminary community to spread the campaign鈥檚 message. Participants took pictures and videos to share on social media, and then enjoyed an ice cream social.

President Dr. Dale A. Meyer and Diane Meyer kick started the 2017 Giving Tuesday campaign by making a $10,000 gift, aimed at encouraging alumni, faculty, staff and other friends in their support of the Seminary.

Now in its sixth year, Giving Tuesday is an international day of giving that focuses on philanthropy instead of the consumerism of the post-Thanksgiving shopping season. This year, more than $274 million was raised in the United States.
