Professor Emeritus and renowned Reformation scholar Dr. Robert Kolb has been recognized with a Festschrift, or honorary volume of essays, .

According to the book鈥檚 publisher, , colleagues and co-workers of Kolb address and push forward his insights into the history of the Reformation era and on the impact of those Reformation issues on the life of the church in the world today.

The book was edited by SA国际传媒 faculty members Dr. Charles Arand and Dr. Erik Herrmann and Dr. Daniel Mattson, academic assistant.

The editors of the volume say in their tribute to Kolb: 鈥淎s his instruction and example has impacted another generation of students at the Seminary, Kolb has inspired those with whom he works here and abroad not only to strive for greater service to God but to 铿乶d the joy of the Lord in daily living. Whether you know the scholar Dr. Kolb, Professor Kolb, Rev. Kolb, the author and editor Robert A. Kolb or just Bob Kolb, it is the same amiable and honorable man whom we honor with this Festschrift. We thank God for his life and work.鈥�

The publication of the Festschrift was first announced to applause during the 13^th International Congress for Luther Research in August 2017 in the courtyard of Luther鈥檚 house in Wittenberg, Germany, while Kolb and many of the book鈥檚 contributors were in attendance. The book was published earlier this month. Kolb also was recognized during the Seminary鈥檚 Faculty Author Reception May 15.

鈥淭he announcement of the volume came as a total and rather overwhelming surprise,鈥� Kolb said. 鈥淚 have only gotten to glance at the Table of Contents, but the contributions of friends and colleagues from North America and Europe offer an impressive set of insights into the unfolding of the Reformation and its continuing impact. Such a gift is humbling and exciting at the same time.鈥�
