New Lenten sermon series available for download
Theme explores issues of ethnicity in the Bible
SA国际传媒 Press, in partnership with聽, has released a new downloadable Lenten sermon series,聽Lent for All Nations. The series examines characters in the New Testament and their explicitly named nationalities to help worshipers learn how the church can respond to issues of race and ethnicity without descending into partisan politics.
The series offers nine well-researched, exegetical sermons: one each for Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday and five undated sermons that can be used throughout Lent. Materials like The Lutheran Church鈥擬issouri Synod (LCMS) Commission on Theology and Church Relations (CTCR) documents on racism and immigration, as well as other materials, are offered for further reading.
The series is written by聽Dr. Benjamin Haupt, associate provost and assistant professor of Practical Theology at SA国际传媒, St. Louis. 鈥淏efore being called to the Seminary, I was a parish pastor at both large and small congregations. I know the rigors of writing sermons during Lent,鈥 Haupt said. 鈥淚 put this series together with the congregations I served in mind. As a parish pastor, I also was involved in various ways in multiethnic ministry. Equipping the church for becoming a church of all nations is mission critical. I鈥檓 grateful for the many people throughout the LCMS who are working on this important outreach and hope these sermons can make a small contribution to this noble work.鈥
The series is available as a PDF download for $19.95 from聽SA国际传媒鈥檚 online store.
