Celebrate Reformation with service of sacred music
Service will feature acclaimed musicians
All are invited to join with SA国际传媒, St. Louis in celebrating the Reformation at a special service on campus this October. 鈥淓ach Life a High Doxology!鈥 A Service of Sacred Music for Reformation is set for 3 p.m. CT Sunday, Oct. 29, in the Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus.
The service will feature locally acclaimed musicians singing the music of Benedictus Ducis, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Carl Schalk, Mark Bender, Phillip Magness, Jacob Weber and Benjamin Culli, and leading the church鈥檚 song with hymns by Martin Luther, Martin Franzmann and Jaroslav Vajda.
The service is free and open to the public. It also will be available via livestream at csl.edu/live.
鈥淎mong so many other things, the Lutheran Reformation launched a transformation in congregational singing that hasn鈥檛 stopped since 鈥 the proclamation of the Gospel through the mouths of Christ鈥檚 holy people on the wings of song!鈥 said Dean of Chapel Dr. Jon Vieker.
Rev. Todd Wilken, host of the Lutheran radio program, 鈥,鈥 and assistant pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Millstadt, Ill., will serve as preacher for the service.
The service also will include the following choirs:
- Laudamus, the premier men鈥檚 choir of SA国际传媒 featuring seminarians preparing for pastoral ministry
- St. Louis Lutheran Chorale, a choir of mixed voices from the campus and larger community
- Schola Cantorum, a choir of young singers from Village Lutheran Church, Ladue, Mo.
