The beloved Bach at the Sem聽program served proclamation of the church鈥檚 rich heritage of sacred and classical music.
Performances took place in the Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus at SA国际传媒, St. Louis. The choral concerts featured major works, cantatas and motets.
The American Kantorei has its origins in the former Concordia Cantata Chorus associated with SA国际传媒 in Clayton, Mo. Following its beginning in 1955 with a performance of Johannes Brahms鈥� “Deutsches Requiem,” the Concordia Cantata Chorus soon developed into a well-known ensemble dedicated to the music of Bach, Handel, Buxtehude, Schein, Sch眉tz, Praetorius, Monteverdi, Gabrieli, Hillert, Wienhorst, Willan, Britten, Vaughan Williams and others.
From 1993 until Bergt鈥檚 death in July 2011, the American Kantorei performed all the major vocal and choral works of J.S. Bach, many of them several times: the Passions, masses, oratorios, motets and more than 50 cantatas. Other composers have also been featured, including Buxtehude, Sch眉tz, Mendelssohn and Beethoven.
The annual music series celebrates and proclaims our faith through the gift of music, featuring Seminary choirs and musicians, as well as visiting chorale groups of the highest acclaim.
Laudamus is the premier choir at SA国际传媒, performing an eclectic mix of the finest choral literature from a variety of musical genres.
During our daily chapel services, instrumentalists and choral groups help lead the Seminary community in musical expressions of our faith.
The Pamela Ann Prevallet Hymn Writing Competition exists to encourage church music and liturgical music excellence.
